Chapter Eight

The city went by in a blur as we raced for the Shard. After our little threesome and lunch, we’d gotten dressed in our fresh laundered clothes and headed back out. It was a bit frustrating, but it came down to whoever made the first mistake. It was Kristen again, that hit the built brown haired male host in the face with telekinesis, which was the only invisible power among us, and it made sense because of it.

The Shard flipped over wildly as he tried to fly his way out of it, but that also mean it was harder to watch us. I put on a burst of speed and dropped Julia, and slammed lightning down into his spinning form, even as Mina shot an energy bolt that was scaled down not to kill.

Kristen hit him again too, with telekinesis, and then a steel ball appeared around the Shard, and he fell toward the earth for a second, but then shot straight up.

We looked up and followed at speed, but he was really moving. All of our attacks were blocked by the sphere, except Mina’s. Her energy blasts were blasting right through the shell, only to hit the Shard and finally knock him out.

The ball disappeared, and he started to tumble and fall for the highway below in downtown Seattle.

Kristen said, “Got him,” and grabbed him with her mind and dragged him over to us, and I put a hand on his forehead and started to suck his powers out.

I turned and looked, then frowned, “is that?”

Mina scowled, “Yes, a jet. What the hell are they thinking?”

I continued sucking out his powers, as we dove for the city below, but the fighter got off two air to air missiles.
